Discover why you should switch to LED tubes

There was a time when fluorescent lighting was the only low-energy recessed lighting option. Fortunately, LED technology has significantly altered the lighting landscape. These days, LED tubes are a great way to upgrade fluorescent fixtures without replacing the entire housing.

LED tube lights come in various lengths and are commonly used for office lighting. In addition, they are excellent in climate-controlled environments with standard ceiling heights like storage areas, fabrication floors, and garages.

Furthermore, LED tubes have better colour rendering due to their lower wattage requirements and long lifespan of up to 100 000 hours. They reach full brightness much faster than fluorescents and do not flicker.

As a result, they’re also a good consideration for homes to save energy.

Understanding LED Tube Dimensions

The simplest way to determine what size LED tube light you require is to check the label at the end. The “T” stands for “tubular” (the bulb’s shape), and the number represents the diameter in eighths of an inch. For example, a T8 has a diameter of 1 inch (or 8/8 inch), a T5 has a diameter of 5/8 inch, and a T12 has a diameter of 12/8 inch (or 1-1/2 inch). If a T12 and a T8 share the same bi-pin base, they can be used interchangeably with the same light fixture if the milliamp (mA) requirements of the ballast, if one is present, are double-checked.
